Anti-Corruption: School children take over the war on corruption

In a bid to strengthen the anti-corruption effort and make Nigeria a corrupt-free nation, students of Junior Secondary School, JSS Mpape Abuja, have vowed to take over the war on corruption.

The students took the position on Tuesday at the official inauguration of a 10-man executive committee that will pioneer the affairs the Anti-Corruption School Club.

Recall that Junior Secondary School Mpape was on the news because of their performance in the Corruption Tori All Secondary School Competition held in Abuja in which the school took the third position.

The Chief Executive Officer of Signature Communications, Vin Martin Obiora Ilo and his team had paid a courtesy visit to the school in January to inaugurate the school club.

At the official inauguration of the executives, the students performed an anti-corruption song to show their resolve and determination to fight corruption at any level.

In his welcome address, the Vice President of the club, Adepoju Faridat thanked Signature TV for the opportunity given to them to be part of the war on corruption.

The principal of the school, Yahaya Daudu while addressing the club members, said the school want to build students to shun corruption and also take over from signature TV.

The Chief Executive Officer of Signature TV, VinMartin Obiora Ilo who was represented by Godswill Emeka, Head of ICT of Signature TV, administered the oath of office to the new executives.

VinMartin  Ilo urged the new executives to walk the talk, increase the advocacy on the fight against corruption and ensure they speak out whenever they see corruption.

The President of the Anti-Corruption Club Obi Canice, a JSS 3 student of the school, in his acceptance speech, promised to work with the members of his executives to push the message of corruption both in and outside the school.

The Patron and Matron of the Club also spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

Highpoints of the inauguration were the delivery of the anti-corruption anthem and swearing-in of the executives

Anti-Corruption Club in JSS Mpape is one of the school advocacy programme of Corruption Tori to get school children involved in the fight against corruption.  Corruption Tori is a program produced by Signature TV and supported by MacArthur Foundation to amplify the war against corruption in Nigeria.
