Police Officer In Nasarawa State Honoured For Anti-Corruption Efforts

A police officer with the Nasarawa State Police Command DSP Mike Obokwu was on Tuesday conferred with the prestigious award of Anti-Corruption Icon. The award which was given to him by anti-corruption television program, Corruption Tori also made him become an Anti-Corruption Ambassador.

DSP Mike Obokwu was identified by community leaders, trade associations and transport unions in the New Karu area of Nasarawa State as an officer who does not take or tolerate taking bribes in his station. He was also said not to have a habit of detaining people or keeping them too long in the detention facility.

The police slogan “Dont Pay for Bail” is said to be part of his leadership operation.

The Chief Operating Officer of Signature Communication, Chief Nwabueze Njoku said the essence of the award was to encourage more civil servants to reject corruption and show integrity in the discharge of their duties.

At the New Karu Police Division, friends and colleagues of DSP Mike Obokwu gathered to witness the ceremony which according to them has not happened in the history of the division.
